The backlash kicks on for Jeffree Star amidst new Orgy collection release.
One month after issuing an official apology to fans for his involvement in the latest beauty community scandals— including his attempts to takedown James Charles and silence Tati Westbrook, his continued support of Shane Dawson, and of course, his racist past— Jeffree Star is back to business as usual with a new launch from his eponymous brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
The beauty mogul revealed the Orgy Collection, a highly requested neutral line including the brand’s biggest eyeshadow palette to date. Orgy includes a 30-pan matte eyeshadow palette, a 9-pan mini palette of metallic and frosted shades, six new lips glosses, a nude mini lipstick vault with 25 shades, and of course multiple fashion accessories and merch items.
However, it doesn’t seem like fans are ready to move on from Jeffree’s recent controversies just yet.
The YouTuber is still copping heat from his aforementioned apology video, which some feel was a weak PR move and more of a non-apology. Fans are calling the viral star to take more time off to reflect on his behaviour and make an actionable plan for genuine change.
Regardless of timing, many are slamming the Orgy Collection for its racy name.
“You’re aware like 12 year olds buy your stuff,” wrote one Twitter user. “They’re gonna be asking their parents, ‘Can you get me Jeffree Star’s Orgy Collection?’ The parent would be mortified.”
You're aware like 12 year olds buy your stuff. They're gonna be asking their parents "can you get me jeffree star's orgy collection?". The parent would be mortified. I hate it lmao

He’s trying to make waves with the names, image being the parent of a kid asking “mum can you buy me jeffree stars orgy” you’d be horrified ??? it’s just unnecessary in my opinion

On the flip side, some have been quick to point out that Jeffree is not the first to use sexual innuendos to sell product, including brands like NARS and Too Faced.
People complaining about Jeffree Stars new collection being called Orgy like two of the worlds most popular makeup products aren’t NARS orgasm blush and Too Faced better than sex mascara. If you’re under 18 and you can afford to pay for Jeffrees products, good for you tbh

Fans are also upset about the mini lipstick vault, which some are calling a “cash-grab.” In order to obtain the five Orgy-exclusive lipstick shades, consumers must purchase the entire mini vault for a hefty $160USD. Unlike many of his other lip products, the exclusive shades will not be sold as singles.
And to add to that, I get that with the eyeshadow pallet it’s more expensive than normal, but you’re literally forcing us to buy both the big and mini pallet so we can have the shimmers we expect IN the big pallet….

When @JeffreeStar makes the lipstick you have ways dreamed he would create but you’d have to buy an entire vault of lipsticks you’d never use for 1 shade… heart breaking. This Libra was excited for her perfect color but can’t swing that.?The collection is really pretty though!

Other criticisms include the lack of shimmer shades in the Orgy eyeshadow palette and the palette’s noninclusive undertones.
Despite the backlash, the Orgy Collection will no doubt sell out like every other JSC launch.
You can purchase the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Orgy Collection on August 21st.
