It’s truly the end of an era. In September the Kardashian-Jenner clan announced they will be wrapping up filming of their long-running reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, with the final season to be aired in 2021.
On September 9th, middle sis Kim Kardashian – who was the initial inspiration for the series – took to Instagram to share the news with her 190 million followers. “It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” she wrote.
Premiering in 2007, the Kardashian-Jenner family were known predominantly for Kim’s leaked sex tape and Caitlyn’s former Olympic gold-medal win in 1976. But as we all know, nobody works harder than momager and all-round reality queen Kris Jenner, and it wasn’t long before the show became a global phenomenon.
After 14 years and 20 seasons, it’s been a wild ride! Fans have watched on in awe as the family have shown the highest highs and the lowest lows of their extravagant lives. As we wait in anticipation for the airing of the final season, it seems like the perfect time to look back on the most iconic Keeping Up With the Kardashians moments.
“Don’t be f**king rude!”
The second season of KUWTK gave us one of the most quotable moments of the series, and thankfully earlier this year it was brought back into the spotlight when the Jonas Brothers’ recreated it for our viewing pleasure on TikTok.
In case you missed it, Kim and Khloe get in a heated argument, after Kim purchased a new Bentley, which resulted in Kim hitting her sister with her purse repeatedly and famously saying “Don’t be f**cking rude!”, in the classic Paris Hilton-esque baby voice Kim was known for in the early 2000’s.
“I look like a Who from Whoville”
Kardashian matriarch Kris found herself in the middle of a plastic surgery scandal after appearing in the season 7 trailer with a pout even Kylie would be proud of. However, after the episode aired it was uncovered that she hadn’t gone under the knife at all, it was actually a food allergy that caused her lips to swell while the family was on vacation in Bora Bora.
Kris, the legend that she is, took this in her stride, but there is just something about this scene that will always make us laugh!
“Kim, would you stop taking pictures of yourself? Your sister’s going to jail.”
In season 3 Khloe is off to jail for violating her parole after getting a DUI charge. Kris is nervous and on-edge, but Kim on the other-hand seemed to have found the perfect lighting, and takes multiple selfies on a classic digital camera.
This is when Kris responds with the iconic line “Kim, would you stop taking pictures of yourself? Your sister’s going to jail.”
“ABCDEFG, I have to go”
As the eldest Kardashian sister, Kourtney is best known for her sassy comebacks and hilarious one-liners.
One of her most iconic moments graced our screens when she invented a phrase to end a conversation with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick. In the scene, Scott is trying to agree with Kourtney, when she simply replies “ABCDEFG, I have to go”.
This has now turned into a popular TikTok trend, that even her famous sisters have recreated!
“PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!”
We’ve seen our fair share of relationships, weddings & celebrations over the years on KUWTK, but Kanye’s proposal to Kim is by far the most extravagant!
In true Kanye West style, he proposed at the San Francisco Giants AT&T Stadium, with a 50-piece orchestra playing “Young & Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey and “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” flashing across the scoreboards.
He then got down on one knee and presented a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring to Kim – his favourite out of the three rings he had made for the occasion.
Kanye invited all of their family and friends to watch on, hiding from the dugout, and if you didn’t already have high expectations for your future proposal, you will after watching this.
“Is that a chicken?!”
In what can only be explained as one of the most hilarious moments of reality television, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family, Kylie, gets surprised with a tiny piglet as a housewarming gift from her mother Kris.
In the midst of all the commotion, Kylie squeals, “Is that a chicken?!” – and this very moment became a viral sensation.
Thankfully Kylie has since confirmed that she can, in fact, tell the difference between farm animals, sharing with her fans on Snapchat, “I just wanted to make the public announcement that I do know the difference between a chicken and a pig, so you guys don’t have to worry”.
“She has this ugly crying face”
Kim Kardashian is known for a lot of things, and her ugly crying face is absolutely one of them. It’s iconic, and it seems to have been a recurring theme throughout all past KUWTK seasons, with the ever so honest Kourtney bringing it to our attention early on.
Kourtney’s explains “I start laughing at Kim when she’s crying because I just can’t help it. She has this ugly crying face that she makes”.
But in true Kardashian fashion, Kim has found a way to monetise her devastation by selling personalised crying face emojis, or as she likes to call them; Kimoji.
“I don’t need to be walking around like I’m some peasant”
Probably the most underrated member of KUWTK is the one and only Scott Disick. Known for his cracking humour, witty comments and superiority complex, we can always count on Scott as the comedic relief even when things get testy between the fam
In season 7, while on vacation in England, our fave Kar-Jenner family man became British royalty in an authentic knighting ceremony after purchasing the title online. Like, really.
“Whether it’s Sir Disick, Lord Disick, Count Disick — becoming royal is going to get me the respect I deserve”, Scott famously said. Although, this royalty act didn’t seem to go too well with girlfriend at the time, Kourtney, who refused to cater to his every demand.
“She’s the least exciting to look at”
With so many strong, independent people in one family, the Kardashians are no strangers to family drama. While bickering and “sister-fights” (as they’re affectionately dubbed), are par for the course on the series, one argument in the season 15 premiere got particularly brutal.
Kim and Kourtney were arguing over scheduling issues for the family Christmas card photoshoot, when Kim accused Kourtney of being “entitled”, because she wanted to be able to leave the shoot by 4 pm. This timing didn’t work for Kim who had prior commitments that same day.
This ended in Kourtney storming out, while Kim continued to vent to Kris and Khloe, angrily suggesting that “she’s the least exciting to look at”.
“Kim, there’s people that are dying.”
In what is possibly the most iconic moment of the entire KUWTK franchise, Kim ugly cries hard when then-husband Kris Humphries playfully pushes her into the waters of Bora Bora causing her to lose her $75,000 diamond earring.
And of course Kourtney puts things straight into perspective with this unforgettable sassy comment – “Kim, there’s people that are dying”.
But before all hope was lost, a young Kylie came to the rescue, diving to the bottom of the ocean and finding Kim’s earring. Honestly, this whole scene is an emotional roller-coaster.
Whether you love them or you hate them, the Kardashian-Jenner family are iconic! Their journey from self-proclaimed modern Brady Bunch to becoming global celebrities have made for great tv. KUWTK will definitely be missed.
