A Jaclyn Hill redemption tour is underway.
After a rocky start to her eponymous beauty brand, Jaclyn Cosmetics, the YouTube creator has revealed she’s finally ready to try her hand at lip products again with the launch of her new collection, Be Poutspoken.
“This is the most anticipated, exciting, and nerve-wracking thing I think I’ve ever done because… I’m coming out with lip products,” Jaclyn says in the teaser video posed to her Instagram.
The beauty guru goes on to say she hopes her journey inspires young girls to be whatever they want to be “even if a million people tell you no, it doesn’t matter.”
“I have no choice but to stand up, to rise up, and be the best that I can be,” she says of her decision to release another lipstick collection.
Be Poutspoken will include a range of liquid lipsticks and matching lip liners available from March 18th.
In June 2019, Jaclyn Hill launched her own makeup line with a range of nude lipsticks. This was an exciting announcement for fans and something Jaclyn had been teasing for years on her YouTube channel.
According to Jaclyn, the lipsticks were creamy, pigmented and long-wearing. The swatches in her reveal video impressed fans and the range quickly sold out.
But when customers started receiving their lipsticks, something was off. Many took to social media to share that their lipsticks appeared to be contaminated with hazardous debris including sharp plastic shards, long black hairs, white fuzzies, and even mould.
The backlash was extreme and Jaclyn’s credibility was lost. It took Jaclyn weeks to address the lipsticks publicly and when she finally did, fans felt as though she was explaining away the situation rather than being open about how this happened and genuinely apologising.
Jaclyn Cosmetics followed lipstick-gate with the launch of a highlighter collection for the holidays, which sold out in 3 minutes flat and received rave reviews. After taking a full year off from product launches, the brand released a Valentine’s Day collection in February 2021 which has since recieved mixed reviews.
Jaclyn Cosmetics launched into Ulta stores across America in early March.
Our fingers and toes are crossed that this lipstick launch goes better than the last.
