TikTok star, Sienna Mae Gomez, has announced she’s the new face of Maybelline New York for 2021. In a video on her YouTube channel, the 16-year-old takes fans behind-the-scenes of her Maybelline photoshoot where she gets glammed up by Kylie Jenner‘s iconic makeup artist, Ariel Tejada.
“So excited to announce that I’m a Maybelline ambassador for 2021 and have incredible things planned this year,” the video starts before revealing that this will be one of four videos in partnership with Maybelline on her channel this month.
Sienna, who won several fan-favourite TikTok Room Awards earlier this year, also shared the news on Instagram.
“HEY remember those stunning makeup looks I teased on my stories last month?” she wrote alongside a photo of herself donning purple graphic liner. “wellllll now i can finally share that i have partnered up with @maybelline for the entirety of 2021 and will be working on some amazing projects!!!!”
Sienna’s exciting collaboration is another example of how TikTok stars have transcended mainstream culture in the last 12 months.
Unlike predecessor apps like YouTube and Instagram, TikTok’s influence has transcended the confines of the platform, seeping into mainstream culture and churning out some of the internet’s biggest stars. What took traditional influencers years to achieve— like landing major movie roles, hanging out with A-list celebrities, collaborating with massive brands, and launching their own companies— TikTok stars have done in a matter of months.
