The trailer for Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated documentary, Miss Americana, is finally here.
Directed by Emmy award-winning director, Lana Wilson, the documentary follows Taylor through several years of her career, including her year out of the spotlight following her very public cancellation by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
“I became the person everyone wanted me to be,” Taylor says in the trailer of her nice-girl public image. She says being canceled “woke me up from constantly fighting for people’s respect” and that she found happiness in her year off without anyone else’s input.
The documentary also captures Taylor’s decision to finally voice her opinion on politics. After staying quiet during the 2016 election (for which she received a lot of backlash), Taylor posted a lengthy Instagram caption in 2018 speaking out against a Republican Tenessee senate nominee and endorsing two Democrat candidates.
“I need to be on the right side of history,” Taylor says in the trailer while sitting on the couch with her mum. Taylor hits post, and her reaction to the inflood of praise and love from fans around the world is the most precious?thing?ever.?
You have to see it for yourself.
Miss Americana will air on Netflix January 31st.
