The 62nd Grammys red carpet had celebrities strutting their most fierce looks of the season. From Nikita Dragun‘s pearl-studded glam to Billy Porter’s mechanical fringe, there was no shortage of bold trends gracing the Staples Centre Sunday evening. And the standout red carpet trend this year? Nail art.

Though nail art has always been an important piece of a glam ensemble, daring manicures took center-stage this year with stars like Lizzo and Billie Eilish making a serious statement with their claws.

Here’s a look at the most striking manicures of the 2020 Grammys.

Lizzo

The Grammy-winner and 8-time nominee dazzled with a blinging mani dripping in crystals. Designed by her manicurist, Eri Ishizu, the singer wanted nail art that reflected her eight nominations at the 2020 Grammys— hence the number 8 design etched in glittery gold on each nail.

Billie Eilish

Celebrity nail artist Emi Kudo created this Gucci mani on nominee Billie Eilish. The nail art was a last-minute decision, Billie told E! Live at the Red Carpet, and was designed to coordinate with her head-to-toe Gucci ensemble, a look that her brother Finneas mirrored for their Grammys performance tonight.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa optred for an edgy purple and white checkerboard nail design bedazzled with crystals. The design was created by NYC-based manicurist Mei Zing who frequently does the star’s nails. Though she’s not a 2020 nominee, Dua won two Grammys last year— Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra made a classic french manicure special by adding an accent nail with the number 24— Kobe Bryant‘s jersey number. The design paid tribute to Kobe’s life which was cut short just hours before the award ceremony when he and his daughter Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash.

Rosalia

Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalia rocked up with a coffin-shaped jewel-encrusted manicure that she apparently got done in the back of a car! The Grammy-winner is a huge fan of nail art, telling reporters on the red carpet, “Since I was 16, I used to love nail art. And now it just got crazier and crazier.”
