Everyone’s favourite girl next door might not be the girl next door for much longer.
Boasting brand partnerships with the likes of Polo Ralph Lauren and Dermalogica, a starring role in Brat TV show Attaway General and the upcoming launch of a podcast with sister Charli D’Amelio, it seems Dixie D’Amelio has been busy…and that’s not including her latest and possibly biggest achievement yet.
On June 26th, Dixie announced on Instagram the release of her debut single as a solo artist, “Be Happy”. Dixie has been teasing the release of the song to her 27.2 million TikTok followers, with the first video of her singing being posted on the 14th June, and a second on the 23rd June 2020.
The song– as according to Headline Planet was co-written by Sam DeRose, Billy Mann, Christian Medice, and Joe Kirkland and is produced by DAM FAM Records, the D’Amelio Family’s thought-to-be production company. The song puts the viral star’s voice front and centre, with strong acoustic and pop influences, detailing universal teen truths with the chorus lyrics, “Sometimes I don’t want to be happy, don’t hold it against me. Fall down just leave me there, let me be sad. Sometimes I just want to be lonely, don’t need you to hold me…what’s the matter with that.”
The track has already been added to Spotify’s most recent New Music Friday playlist, as well as being shared by fellow viral creators including Sebastian Topete, Griffin Johnson, Larray and Nikita Dragun. We can’t wait to see Dixie’s music following grow.
