Blackpink Announce Return In August & Largest World Tour To Date

Blinks around the world can rejoice as K-Pop’s favourite girl group is making its return!

On Tuesday, YG Entertainment announced the news that Blackpink will return with a new musical era in August after nearly two years. The collective has not released new music since their 2020 debut, ‘The Album’, which reached #2 on the Billboard 200 and was followed by a wildly successful Netflix documentary, BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky.

The company noted that the record-breaking group— made up of idols Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé— is in the “final stages” of recording a new album just weeks after Blackpink became the first-ever musical act to reach 75 million subscribers on YouTube.

“A lot of Blackpink-esque music has been prepared over a long period of time,” the company said, before revealing that the artists will also embark on the “largest world tour in the history of a K-Pop girl group” by the end of 2022.

In addition to a new studio album and a world tour, YG also teased a “large-scale project” that Blackpink has been working on as part of this new era.

Fans of the group— affectionately dubbed “Blinks”— are thrilled by the news of Blackpink’s return, with phrases like “AUGUST FOR BLACKPINK” and “THE WORLD IS HEALING” trending worldwide on Twitter.

No official release date has been named for Blackpink’s new music at the time of publication.
