VidCon is the latest major event to cancel its springtime event due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
“The world’s largest celebration of digital creators” was originally set to be held on the weekend of June 17th in Anaheim, California. According to a statement released on Twitter, VidCon is hoping to reschedule for autumn 2020, but have not committed to anything yet.
While they seem hopeful about a reschedule, VidCon is not taking any chances and will be issuing full refunds.
“Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and the precautions being taken by authorities worldwide to manage this pandemic, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 11th annual VidCon in Anaheim this June,” they told Centennial Beauty in a statement this morning. “All tickets and pre-ordered merch that have been purchased for the June 17 – 20, 2020 event will be refunded in full by April 15, 2020. This will include all fees for previously canceled tickets.”
So basically, if you’ve purchased tickets, merch or anything else related to official VidCon offerings, you should see a full refund by mid-April.
VidCon also said they will have an update by June 15th to let fans and creators know if an autumn reschedule is possible.
“We are committed to bringing a VidCon US experience to our fans, creators, and the industry in 2020 and are actively working on a plan to do so this fall. We will have further details to share by June 15, 2020.”
We are happy to see VidCon is putting the health and safety first of fans, creators and event staff first. Check back for updates on VidCon 2020.
