The TikTok community is mourning Canadian creator Megha Thakur, who sadly passed away in an alleged car accident on November 24th at 21 years old.
A student at Western University, Megha gained over 900K followers for posting inspirational content that focused on body positivity and self-confidence.
On November 28th, Megha’s parents shared the news of her passing via Instagram.
“Megha was a confident and independent young woman. She will be dearly missed. She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing. At this time, we request your blessings for Megha. Your thoughts and prayers will be with her in her onward journey,” they wrote.
Megha’s sudden death has prompted a massive reaction from fans and fellow influencers.
“Megha Thakur passed she was one of my favorite influencers on IG, she was very open and transparent about the way she felt and she was an advocate for girls who felt like they were too skinny and she helped me with my confidence,” one fan tweeted.
In a video about her passing, creator Monica Sharma said Megha was “so different and wonderful”.
“She’s so funny. She’s so confident. It made me fall in love with her instantly. Thank you for making us smile,” Monica wrote in the comments.
Beauty influencer Glamzilla AKA Stephanie Valentine commented on the Instagram post announcing Megha’s death, writing, “My dearest Megha, this is absolutely devastating. Sending your family so much love. I’m so truly saddened by the loss of a creative genius.”
Journalist and influencer Daisy Maldonado commented “Megha knew how much of a force she was in the influencer space and how many women looked up to her, I told her all the time. we lost an angel too soon. I’m keeping you and your family in my thoughts ❤️”.
