‘Cold Girl Makeup’ Is Gen Z’s New Frosty Fave Beauty Look

‘Cold girl makeup’ is the latest Gen Z beauty trend to sweep TikTok.

Racking up 95.1 million views on the platform, cold girl makeup surprisingly doesn’t include chapped lips and Vitamin D deficient-looking skin. Rather, it’s all about emulating the natural flush we get after a walk in the crisp winter air.

According to the many tutorials under the hashtag, the cold girl makeup look focuses on blush, as most Gen Z looks do.

In @gjuanita’s tutorial, which amassed 1.6 million views, she uses blush all over her cheeks, focusing on the apples, temples, and even the under-eyes. If you’re looking for a blush that will give you that windswept look, we recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Blush for a long-lasting burst of colour. If you’re more of a powdered blush person, the Ciaté London Glow To Illuminating Blush is a great option.

To add to the winter wonderland fantasy, add a sprinkle of frost-coloured highlight or sparkly eyeshadow to the inner corners of the eyes, just underneath the lower lash line, and across the tip of your nose. We recommend the Anastasia Rose Metals Eyeshadow Palette for a frosty yet illuminating finish.

When it comes to lips, creator @imjessicazhang suggests a matte pink lipstick concentrated towards the center of the lips. She also gently presses the lipstick on the top and bottom of her lips to lightly contour the edges and emulate chapped lips “but make it cute”. Mellow Cosmetics Creamy Matte Lipsticks will leave you with the perfect elevated natural lip colour, whilst keeping you hydrated.

While cold girl makeup really is just a wintery rendition of the sun-kissed beauty trend that went viral last summer, we’re not complaining about another excuse to break out our favourite blush!
