If you’re looking for that glazed donut skin, TikTok has got you covered.
From introducing Gen Z to techniques like slugging, to teaching beginners about the best skin care products, SkinTok is the go-to spot for all the trendiest skincare hacks. But the category’s newest obsession isn’t a DIY mask or a new product recommendation.
Introducing Profhilo, an injectable moisturiser that has got SkinTok enthusiasts in a frenzy.
At the time of publication, #profhilo has accumulated over 13.1 million views on TikTok. While the hashtag is not associated with any particular audio or trend, users worldwide are vlogging their experiences and sharing before and after pictures of the treatment.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment that boosts collagen and elastin production, leaving the skin looking refreshed, hydrated, and firm.
Describing Profhilo as an “incredible product”, Dr. Uma Jeyanathan (@umaskinclinic) has taken to TikTok to explain the treatment.
After being injected in five spots on the face, “[Profhilo] draws in water, plumps [and] stimulates new collagen, so it’s going to be creating hydration, a glow to the skin and an incredible amount of plumping over time,” she goes on to say.
While Profhilo may be an injectable, it differs from fillers and botox.
“[Profhilo is] made up of the same thing [as dermal filler], hyaluronic acid,” Stevie, a facial aesthetician known as @so.aestheticsuk, explains. “This runs smooth, though, so instead of adding volume like we do with fillers… it won’t look like you have had anything done.”
With aesthetic practitioners giving Profhilo their stamp of approval on TikTok, the treatment is a great way to improve hydration, tighten skin, and dip your toe into the world of injectables. But considering the treatment’s hefty price tag, only give Profhilo a crack after doing your own research and making sure it is appropriate for you.
Welcome to the future of skincare!
