Peter Monn has shared an update for fans after being involved in a fatal car accident earlier this year.
On February 17th, the popular drama YouTuber was involved in a three-car crash that resulted in one death. Peter took to Twitter a week after to address the accident and thank his fans for their support.
He also detailed his injuries in the Twitter thread, which included five staples in his head, head contusions, a broken back, a bruised lung, and a broken rib.
“They brought me back to life more times than I can count in front of friends and family, deciding that this head injury also caused heart problems, blood pressure issues & thyroid issues,” he wrote.
Months later, the creator has announced he is planning for his return to YouTube.
“Hey guys! I know it’s been a really long time but I wanted to stop in and give you an update especially since there’s been a lot of questions. Due to the seriousness of the accident I want to be sensitive to everyone involved and won’t be addressing it in this post but I will talk about it my first video back. I just don’t think it’s fair or does the severity any justice to talk about it in a written statement,” he wrote on his channel’s community tab to 229,000 subscribers.
“First of all I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, compassion and kindness. There have been so many people who have checked in daily, many I have never met, and I want everyone to know truly how grateful I am for the love.”
Peter went on to explain that he is “walking now” with some pain in his back and he is “able to leave the house and function”. He says his mouth and rib injuries are mostly healed and he works closely with a neurologist and a new therapist to support his mental and emotional reaction to the crash.
Unfortunately, the YouTuber says they recently found fluid and bleeding in his brain as a result of the trauma. “Two weeks ago I found out from the results of a cat scan that I have fluid & bleeding on my brain as a result of the trauma. I have another cat scan on Monday & I will find out more about what we do next based on the results,” he wrote.
On his return to YouTube, Peter says his therapist is encouraging him to come back and he hopes to be back within the next month.
He finished by letting fans know that one of his beloved dogs, Tucker, passed away last week, writing, “I wanted to let you guys know we lost little Tucker last week. He suffered internal bleeding they believe was related to an aggressive tumor and his little body just couldn’t take it. The house is emptier without him but we are giving his brother Boo all the love in the world.”
“Once again, thank you guys for all the love,” he wrote. “It’s amazing to me that there is so much kindness in this world from people we may never meet. I love you guys!”
We look forward to having Peter back on our screens!
