Corinna Kopf has announced this morning that she’s leaving her Twitch streaming days behind.
The Vlog Squad member, with over 4 million followers across YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch, is the latest streamer to leave the platform, signing an exclusive deal with Facebook Gaming.
This is Facebook Gaming’s largest exclusive deal signed with a female streamer and comes after a number of primary Twitch personalities have jumped ship to other platforms, including their biggest star Ninja.
In Corinna’s statement on her Instagram, she cites feeling empowered as a female streamer and Facebook’s positive impact on the streaming community as her reasons for joining.
“As a female gamer, it’s so important for me to find a home that not only empowers myself but also all of you, in order to make a positive impact in the gaming world. I’m so appreciative for all of your continuous support over the past few years and hope you join me in this move to a platform that I truly believe in ❤️,” she wrote in her caption.
The move follows her temporary Twitch ban in early December over a year-old clip of Corinna adjusting her bra. The ban was met with outrage and sparked discussion of censorship, with fans criticising the platform for picking and choosing when to enforce their terms and conditions.
Because, tbh, there’s a lot more inappropriate behaviour going down on Twitch than a girl adjusting her bra.
The reaction to Corinna’s news has been mixed. Some fans believe this is a powerful step towards keeping female streamers safe and in control.
“You are a pioneer for women in gaming. You took the first step so that others may follow,” one Twitter user wrote.
Others believe Corinna will lose a significant portion of her audience, saying most FB Gaming users are older than the influencer’s target audience.
