In the most precious moment of last night’s 92nd Academy Awards, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star Julia Butters revealed she was carrying a turkey sandwich in her purse.
The 10-year-old actress walked the red carpet in a custom bubblegum pink Christian Siriano gown and a pink bedazzled Marzook clutch. She told Entertainment Tonight that she had the opportunity to sketch out her vision for the gown and that attending the Oscar’s was “a lifelong dream.”
But despite making a glamorous debut at Hollywood’s biggest night, it was the young actress’s turkey sandwich wrapped in a Ziploc bag hidden inside her purse that really stole the show.
“I don’t like some of the food here,” she told LA Times journalist Amy Kaufman of bringing her own snack to the black-tie event.
She later elaborated to Entertainment Tonight explaining that some award shows don’t provide food and others serve food she just flat out doesn’t like. “There is a sandwich in my purse because I was smart this time. The other awards I was hungry— I was starving, and sometimes, either, they don’t have food or I don’t care for the food.”
Julia’s iconic accessory resonated with viewers at home, who took to Twitter to share their love.
“This is the greatest outfit I’ve ever seen in my life sandwich included,” said writer Rebecca Woolf.
“We have no choice but to stan,” Haleigh Hoffman of NBC Washington replied.
Others called the turkey sandwich a “baller move” and “iconic.”
