JoJo Siwa’s whirlwind romance with Avery Cryus has come to an end.
Amid their messy breakup, rumours about what happened between the seemingly happy couple are exploding across the internet as JoJo and Avery have found themselves entangled in a public TikTok feud.
The beginning of Jojo & Avery
JoJo and Avery were friends before they entered a relationship, posting many TikTok videos together calling each other their “best friend”.
In early August, fans began questioning if JoJo and Avery were more than just “best friends” after Avery posted a mukbang TikTok where the two appear to be flirty and silly together.
On August 24th, JoJo squashed the relationship rumours during a red-carpet interview. “Avery has been a really good friend of mine for like six months now,” JoJo said. “She’s awesome, she’s literally the coolest and I’m really grateful to have her as a friend in my life. She’s a really really really good friend.”
However, things quickly changed, when JoJo posted a TikTok video kissing Avery in a Chuck E. Cheese, confirming their relationship, on September 10th.
Over the following months, the couple continued to post their relationship all over TikTok, including videos where Avery spends time with the entire Siwa clan, leading fans to believe they were getting quite serious.
A sponsored post and a breakup
They may be heartbroken but they will still be getting that bag. After three months of dating, JoJo and Avery announced that they had broken up in a video Avery posted, sponsored by Royal Caribbean Cruises.
The video included clips from her vacation cruise with JoJo and friends. In one clip, JoJo gives Avery a gift while saying, “This is my ‘I’m sorry for breaking up with you’ present.”
Avery later confirmed their split in a comment under the video. “We decided that we are better off as friends! We are both so young and still just trying to figure our stuff out,” she wrote.
It appears the exes went on the cruise in an attempt to remain friends.
It quickly turns hostile between Jojo and Avery
Everything seemed fine between the exes until December 19th when Jessalynn Siwa, JoJo’s mum, uploaded a video to her Instagram story of JoJo essentially going off.
In the video, the pop star claimed she was “tricked” for views and clout. “I got tricked into being told I was in love and I got f*cking played,” JoJo said.
Fans suspect that the video was in response to a video Avery posted (just days after the breakup announcement) with her ex Soph Mosca, whom she dated for two years before JoJo.
Avery and Soph also announced they were traveling to Europe together, blaming it on the fact that they booked a “nonrefundable vacation” while still together.
On December 20th, Avery released a statement saying she’s still struggling with the breakup. “From my perspective, me and JoJo left on great terms and are still friends,” she told E!. “I’m still very hurt that JoJo broke up with me, and I’m saddened and confused by the situation.”
How is Kylie Prew involved?
Gossip TikToker Kales has theorised that JoJo’s ex, Kylie Prew, might have something to do with JoJo’s split from Avery. The creator notes that Kylie has recently been featured in some of the star’s recently posted videos. Kylie and JoJo dated for a few months back in 2021.
On December 20th, Kylie’s ex Rylin Utah posted a TikTok implying that JoJo and Kylie were talking and hanging out again while JoJo was still with Avery.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, [JoJo], but didn’t you text Ky the day after the Fletcher concert, and didn’t you hang out with her both the day before and the days after her and I had broke up? And I’m assuming that’s the same timeline you broke up with Avery, so… I’m just saying,” Rylin said.
JoJo has since taken to TikTok to address the situation, accusing Avery of telling one of her friends that she was using the reality star to “grow her career” and “get to the top”.
“And when I said I just wanted to be friends so I didn’t lead you on after an unplanned hookup you wanted nothing to do with me because there was nothing to gain anymore,” JoJo wrote in the caption.
Many fans are unsure how to feel about these claims, with some saying it’s unfair that JoJo is putting all the blame on Avery.
Avery has not responded to the most recent accusations made by JoJo at the time of writing.
