It looks like 2020 is shaping up to be the year of fresh starts.
Today, Jackie Aina shocked fans when she uploaded a video confirming that she and fellow beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook have kissed and made up.
In the video titled A Brand I Thought I’d NEVER Review…, Jackie tries the Tati Beauty Blendiful for the first time, giving the sponge a glowing review. But not before spilling the tea on their mended relationship.
“You guys aren’t dumb,” she says. “You guys have definitely noticed I have been one of the people that have been very purposefully absent from reviewing this line.”
Jackie explains that her reasons for not previously reviewing Tati Beauty were personal. But now, in a lovely twist of events that we rarely see from feuding YouTubers, the two influencers have made up.
“Recently Tati reached out to me, and I feel like we don’t see enough of like, mending bridges on YouTube,” Jackie says. “The beauty community, we have the worst reputation for being messy and toxic because in a lot of ways we are.”
Jackie confirmed the two are trying to start over with their strained relationship and that Tati said some “really heartfelt things and really, truly made me feel like she was sincere.”
Though Jackie refused to reveal what their beef was about, it’s no surprise that the two may have had issues in the past given Tati’s close relationship with former-BFF Jeffree Star.
Jackie has been vocal for years about her criticism of Jeffree Star for his racist behaviour. In 2018 she penned an open letter to the beauty mogul which she posted to Twitter, writing, “I have not and will not excuse his blatantly racist behavior and — not his past references to me in derogatory terms, his use of the N words nor his efforts to eliminate spaces and opportunities for people of color.”
Shortly after, the two exchanged words on Twitter when Jeffree’s former hairstylist released claims that Jeffree had referred to Jackie as a “gorilla.”
Now that Tati and Jeffree are no longer friends (they fell out in the midst of Dramagedon 2), it seems Tati is trying to right some wrongs and mend some bridges.
